Tabolwa Rock: North Nandi Forest
Forming part of Nandi Nandi Forest and Nandi Escarpment, the significant rock formation of Tabolwa forms one of the waxed-lyrical viewpoints in Nandi County. It overlooks a wide saucer-shaped basin separating the forests of North Nandi and Kakamega. Weather allowing, on clear days, you can spot Kakamega, Eldoret, Kapsabet towns from the vantage of the rock eminence. The top, reached via one of many footpaths around the rock, not well developed, but thankfully with a firm underfoot, is flat with plenty of room for exploration and photography. The grey granite monolith mound also double as a beyond-money prominence to espy the verdant highland farmlands, with Kakamega Forest in the near background and Mount Elgon further outwith. Tabolwa Rock is located within Mosop constituency.
