Nguuni Nature Sanctuary

Situated about 5 km east of Haller Park in the Kiembeni area via Quarry Road then onto Kiembeni Road, the 100-acres Nguuni Nature Sanctuary is a pretty, reposeful escape where trippers can sight plenty of wildlife in their natural habitat. The stars at Nguuni here are the graceful giraffes going about their daily avocation oblivious of humans. The scenery is agreeable, with its moderate hills outgrown with bush offering an element of surprise. The concentration of birds and butterflies around the large man-made dam is wild and savage. And thanks to its close proximity to Mombasa Island (and the city), it comes to life late in the afternoon (from 4:00 pm onwards) when sun-downer funs bring in music, laughter and merriment into the early night hours. It is open daily from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm. Entry charges in Kes: Resident Adult 350 and Non-Resident 800. Nguuni is found off Kiembeni Road.
