Mombasa Yacht Club: Sailing Since 1901
This is nestled between the Likoni Floating Bridge Liwatoni island side in the west and Mbaraki Creek in the east, at the southern area of Mombasa Island. Founded in 1901 as a members-only club for people with an interest in sailing, Mombasa Yatch Club has run a popular sailing program over many decades that encourage yacht racing by the promotion of regattas. It was recognized by the Yacht Racing Association in June 1911 and Members of the Club are entitled to take charge of and to steer yachts and boats racing under R.Y.A and ISAF rules. It supports the tradition of promoting sailing as a sport and hosts a racing event every month. The star attractions here are sailing races along Kilindini Channel and the clubhouse set on a bluff offering wondrous views. It has a lounge, lovely bar and kitchen too.
