Mombasa Butterfly House: Live Butterfly Exhibit

At Fort Jesus Museum, south of the main complex and abutting with Swahilipot Hub, Mombasa Butterfly House expositions a cornucopia of opalescent butterflies including some species endemic to Kenya from Arabuko Sokoke Forest Reserve. It offer visitors a chance to experience a tropical garden filled with fine butterflies and other fascinating insects. Since it opened its doors, it has been one of the exemplary attractions for butterfly lovers in Kenya. Its open-plan conservatory allows travellers to appreciate the razzle-dazzle of the beautiful butterflies, with an emphasis on educating provided in useful informational didactic panels that render in-depth details on almost all the exhibited species of colourful butterfly.

They not only fly freely around you but they might even land on you too! You walk through a lush, enclosed garden where hundreds of exotic butterflies fly freely around you. This engaging staging also brings to life many intriguing facts often unsung about butterflies and, in some ways, helps visitors resolve misconceptions about them. Going through many particulars exhibited in the house, and seeing the beauty in each of their assorted display, Mombasa Butterfly House has a long lasting effect on ones view of these fragile insects. It is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm and a tour takes about 1 to 2 hours. Charges in Kes: Citizen Adult 100, Child 50; Resident Adult 200, Child 100; Non-Resident Adult 500, Child 250.
