英文原文
Similar in outlook to Irine (Devil’s Bridge) Falls 4 km beyond Meru town, Kathika Falls, 2 km before entering Meru town is also situated off the B6 Road. On a long afternoon out about Meru town you can explore both these falls, and many little-known smaller ones, providing in good weather which is almost guaranteed away from the rain season. Just 1.5 km west of the main town via Mwendantu Road on your way to Milimani, Kinoru, Giantune and other places, or using the Kaithe Road that goes past Meru Stardia, Kathita Falls at Gitwiki Gardens is a pretty wonder.
As the area around Meru attracts heavy rainfall the surrounding country is never without a vibrant undertone of greenery. The falls are situated along the Kathita River, which flows through the lush satellite around Meru town. Rising in Mount Kenya and the longest river in Meru County, River Kathita flows around the well-documented Ithaguni Hill, high above the moorland in Mount Kenya and at the doorstep of the Rutundu Cabins, before reaching Meru town thence draining into the Tana, which is the primary recipient of most of the rivers in Central Kenya.
Although not necessary, it is advisable to take along a local guide to help navigate the thickly wooded boondocks and intertwining footpaths, some through private farms. Kathita Falls is juxtaposed close to a smaller falls along Mpuri River which is reachable without too much difficulty that’s worthwhile to explore and to put in the comparison or discern the contrasting effects of this two picturesque falls. The falls are surrounded by dense vegetation, offering a tranquil area with deep shade and relaxing atmosphere. Both waterfalls are less than 2 km from the Meru town.
