Worth a look-see soon after the rain season when River Athi fills up its fourteen separate falls, this is one of the most mesmerizing waterfalls found in Kenya. It is, without doubt, Kenya’s largest sheet or curtain waterfall. Almost always stunning, in a bucolic setting, the water flows evenly across a wide, broad surface, creating a continuous sheet or curtain of water with a 30 foot drop. The flat ledge with a uniform edge allows the water to spread out smoothly rather than breaking out. And unlike Gotu or Chanlers Falls, the next best example of a sheet falls in Kenya, the fourteen different falls that make up the curtain cascade persist year round.

Geographically, too, it is a key landform, deputing the boundary with Machakos and Kiambu counties – and is often claimed by both. While majority of adventure makers to Fourteen Falls go to enjoy the stunning sight, a select band of adrenaline junkies opt for the thrilling plunge. You can stroll around the rocks at the base, take in the pleasant flora. But as nothing under the heavens is impregnable to vices and chaos, visitors have, especially in the last decades, raised an alarm on the wanton pollution to the river with putrid blemish to the beauty of the site. Fourteen Falls is located 70 km northeast of Nairobi via the A2 Nairobi-Moyale Road to Thika on to the A3 Garissa Road upto Sabuk. It is 2 km from the Ol Donyo Sabuk Park turnoff.
