This is found almost equidistant from Lamu Town and Shela Jetty, on the Manda-Lamu channel. It is the latest addition to Lamu’s eateries, and here you can take part in the noble sunset libations, wind in your face, with the ocean around you. The humble and workaday holding, designed without being ostentatious, is an experience that is anything but simple, if not rare. The Floating Pub and Restaurant is one of few places where travellers can imbibe in pitchers of beer and glasses of cocktails, because in the old town there is no clubbing or having wild parties. The biggest draw is the creditably prepared seafood cuisine specializing in pan-fried prawns, calamari, octopus, and jumbo prawns; as well as in continental dishes, like pizzas, salads and spaghetti. To jazz-up the fluid nights, they host a variety of musical and entertainment gifts from Lamu and beyond. The Floating Bar is open daily between 10 am to 11 pm, and is easily reached via hop-on hop-off boats.
