英文原文
Also known as Three Sisters Caves, Fikirini Caves is a trinity of substantial caves dead-center in the village of Fikirini on Shimoni Peninsula. As with many caves in the region, these were traditionally used by the Wadigo as a refuge to escape the threat of both the invading Maasai raiders and slave traders. The Fikirini-Tswaka Community now run tours in and around the three caves, with a wealth of natural wonders – stalactite, stalagmite, pillars sculpture and a syndicate of bizarre cave creatures. The first cave, Mdenyenye, is the largest and most explored. It has a basic wooden ladder built to take you down to its base. The second, Pangani, with several chambers, was traditionally used for prayers and rest. The third, Kisimani, has a water well that never runs dry. Fikirini Caves are found in Fikirini Village 48 km from Ukunda and just 10 km from the A14 Likoni-Ukunda-Ramisi Road, taking the turnoff southerly toward Shimoni, then another westerly towards Fikirini.
While Kenya may not be as well-known for its caves as some other destinations, there are still some fascinating caving sites worth exploring. Before embarking on a caving expedition, it’s essential to ensure safety by going with a knowledgeable local guide, wearing appropriate gear, and being aware of potential hazards.
