英文原文
Work in northern Kenya’s Samburu, Isiolo and Laikipia Counties, comprising one contiguous ecosystem of over 4,530km2 including the National Reserves of Samburu, Buffalo Springs, and Shaba, and eleven Community Conservancies – Westgate, Kalama, Meibae, Nasuulu, Nakupurat-Gotu, Il Ngwesi, Leparua, Naapo, Lekurruki, Nanapisho, Nalowuon – Ewaso Lions is dedicated to conserving lions and other large carnivores by promoting symbiosis between people and wildlife.
Among their programs is the Warrior Watch, engaging Samburu warriors – an earnest group traditionally neglected, overlooked or blamed for wrongdoing – in conservation decision-making. Warrior Watch makes warriors ambassadors for lions within their communities, while raising awareness about conservation and advocating for peaceful co-existence with lions and wildlife. Another significant program is the Lions Kid Club that conducts a five-day camp following a carefully designed curriculum that teaches children about the value and importance of lions, large carnivores and other wildlife species, the threats to their survival and techniques communities can sustainably adopt to promote peaceful coexistence.
Kenya has about 110 wildlife conservancies, all promoting the placid co-existence of local people and wildlife in mutual well-being. Improved security, better land management, income, employment and support to community projects have all encouraged the epic rise of conservancies unique attractions and experiences.
