Historic Churches in Isiolo St. Eusebius Cathedral: Neo, Classic History Just to the side of the A2 highway, within the main business district of Isiolo town, sits the St. Eusebius Cathedral, one of the most iconic cathedrals in this corner of Kenya. It is well-known for not only for its colorful facade and twin bell towers but also for its unique blend of old ways Catholic beliefs. The interior is often filled with candles, pine needles, and vibrant textiles. The Apostolic Vicariate of Isiolo was created on December 15, 1995 on territory split from the Diocese of Meru. On February 15, 2023, Pope Francis elevated the vicariate to the Diocese of Isiolo and appointed Anthony Ireri Mukobo as its first bishop. Eusebius' Ecclesiastical History is, however, one of the classics of early Christianity and of equal stature with the works of Flavius Josephus. Eusebius chronicles the events of the first three centuries of the Christian church in such a way as to record a cache of vital facts about early Christianity that can be learned from no other ancient source. When Eusebius (circa A.D. 260-340) wrote his famous Ecclesiastical History, his pertinent concern was to record facts before they disappeared, and before eye-witnesses were killed and libraries were burned and destroyed in persecutions by Rome. He faithfully transcribed the most important existing documents of his day so that future generations may have a collection of factual data. In many respects, Eusebius, honoured by this cathedral, deserves the title "father of Church history. You don’t have to be religious, or even spiritual, to enjoy a beautiful old church.
