Lamu is not simply an island to photograph and leave. Its coral-stone houses, carved doors, mosques, dhow traditions and trading history form a living Swahili culture best explored slowly and respectfully.
Journey Highlights
- Guided walking in the World Heritage old town
- Museums, traditional architecture and Indian Ocean trading history
- Takwa Ruins and dhow travel when tide, weather and boat conditions permit
- Time in Shela for dunes, coastal life and sunset
