Londiani I Ruskebe Falls: An Underrated Gem
Kericho County is well drained with a goodly number of rivers to include Nyando, Kiptaret, Itare, Chemosit, Kipsonoi, Timbilil, the Maramara, Kipchorian and the Malaget. Some of these rivers are characterized by rapids and falls which could be harnessed for hydro-electric power generation, ergo some of the rivers with little known falls that include Kipchorian, Maramara, Itare and Kiptaret. Along the River Kipchorian, which is one of the main tributary for River Nyando, are a handful of impressive rapids and waterfalls, to include Londiani Waterfalls nearby Londiani. Also known Ruskebe or Rusibeke Falls, below the picturesque Kimasian Railway Bridge but it’s not a major tourist destination or a place with extensive geological significance like some other famous waterfalls in Kenya. Based on the formation, geology, water flow, and terrain, Lodiani Falls could best be describes as a Plunge Falls, where water drops vertically without touching the rock face, dropping with a punchbowl effect – the water descends into a confined pool, resembling a “bowl.” In pleasant surrounding with a natural forest, it nature roars and whispers at the same time. An underrated gem of Kericho County, worth your hiking adventure!
