Lakes in Kisii County Lake Okari: A Disappearing Gem Mysterious lakes around the world captivate the imagination thanks in part to their unique, eerie, or oft-times unexplained characteristics. Formed in 1965 through a possible sink hole process that created a reservoir, Lake Okari, measuring just 50 by 70 feet, with no inlets or outlets, making its water remarkably pure, is rather mysterious. Presently, it is reprovingly covered with reeds and other natural vegetation which has made it difficult for residents to access the fish, and has also become a habitat for snakes.
