Kathiri (Gathiri) Falls: At Outdoorman Cabins

For many years, Kathiri Falls, sometimes known as Gathiri, was but a little-known walking trail of 8 km, through tea farms and groves, to reach the site. Famous for its large rock pool below the falls, it remained obscure and a lesser-known hiking trail. It is not a large falls yet with its goodly pool, a series of rapids, surrounding grove of ancient trees and beautiful tea farms at hand, Kathiri Falls earns its place as one of the best waterfalls to visit in Kirinyaga County – and there many! At the footslopes of Mount Kenya, with six major rivers having their headwaters along the slopes, Kirinyaga County has about seventeen major waterfalls. Of a recent development, Outdoorman Cabins set up a surpassing camp site at Kathiri Falls, making it one of the most sought-after weekend destinations in this region of the county. It is located 13 km north of Kerugoya town via Mugumo-Kangaita Road.
