Natural Landmarks in Homa Bay Gembe Hills: A Superb Lookout At Mbita Point The trinity of hills – Gembe, Ruri and Gwassi – encloses an area of much lower country forming an amphitheatre from the centre of which rises another sharp hill lakeward, Mfangano. Gembe, Ruri and Gwassi form a rough triangle, with Genge Hills at the top. It is 43 km from Homa Bay town to Mbita Point, located at the foot of Gembe Hills. From here begins the steep ascent of the residual highlands – Ruri, Gembe and Gwassi. Ngorome Hills in Suba, Wire Hills in Kasipul, Homa Hills in Karachuonyo and the Kanyamwa Escarpment also form part of Homa Bay's highland plateau.
