National Reserves in Kwale
The Lovely Diani-Chale Marine National Reserve
Diani-Chale Marine National Reserve, between Diani and Chale, was started to protect the delicate coral reef, coral garden and marine life. It was established in 1995 to conserve the vibrant marine ecosystem, including coral reefs, mangrove forests, seagrass beds, and diverse marine life. The reserve spans approximately 640 square kilometers and offers a rich blend of biodiversity and scenic beauty, making it a popular destination for eco-tourism and marine exploration. A list of marine activities like dhow fishing trips, snorkeling, sailing, non-motorized water sports and glass bottom boat excursions are offered. The small but picturesque island within the reserve, Chale Island is known for its white sandy beaches and luxurious eco-resort. The island is surrounded by lush mangroves and coral reefs.
Kenya certainly has enormous touring resources. There are no less than sixty national narks, reserves and game sanctuaries, covering approximately 11% of the land surface. Each of these diverse and stunning national parks and reserves offers unique wildlife experiences and unique, breathtaking landscapes.
