Che Shale Hotel
Historic Ruins along Kenya's Coast Che Shale Hotel & Kitesurf Center Above Mambrui via the B8 Road you’ll see a sign for Che Shale that indicates a right turn onto a dirt road. Drive on that road for about 3 km, and you will see another sign for Che Shale that indicates a right turn on a sand track. Follow the power lines up the hill; this is an easy sand track that’s laid with coconut husks. The road to Che Shale Hotel & Kitesurf Center is usable year-round. Simply follow the sand track, and the next Che Shale signs for another 3 km and you will arrive, at a lovely family-run beach hotel situated about 25km north of Malindi. It has 8 uniquely designed, castaway chic style bandas (cottages) that combine laid back style and attention to detail. Since 2000s, kitesurfing has been the main sport. Being the only kite school on the beach means that the area about Che Shale Hotel & Kitesurf Center is uncrowded and secluded. On average there will never be more than 15 kiters out. There are two main surfing seasons: The Kuzi season runs from June through September blowing from the SE, averaging 15/25knots a day all day. The Kaskazi season runs from December through mid April, with the wind coming up after lunch, blowing from the NE averaging 15/20knots.
